Cabo
How to Play:
⚠️The fullscreen version of the game is not a supported resolution (yet!) and may be unplayable. Stay safe by staying minimised, sorry! ⚠️
Objective: Swap, Peak and Snap your way to the smallest value of cards
All cards have the same value as their usual face value except for the following:
Aces: Value of 0
Red Kings: Value of -1
Jokers: Value of -2
Deal: Each player is dealt 2 cards face up and 2 cards face down. After memorising their cards, each player clicks on their face up cards to indicate that they're ready. Once both players are ready, the fun begins! Each turn of Cabo consists of 3 phases: Draw Phase, Play Phase and Snap Phase.
Draw: During the draw phase, players draw a card -- either a new one from the draw pile or a previously discarded one from the discard pile. After a card is drawn, the play phase begins.
Play: After a card is drawn, players play a card from their hand. If a special card was drawn and immediately played, the associated actions can be carried out. Beware though, the snap phase has already begun as soon as a card is played! If no snapping is to be conducted, the turn can be ended or Cabo called!
SPECIAL CARDS:
Self Peak (Any 7 or 8): Get one step ahead by peaking one of your own cards
Enemy Peak (Any 9 or 10): Peak at one of your opponent's cards. Infiltrate!
Blind Swap (Any J or Q): Swap one of your cards with your opponents card but consider carefully as you can't see the cards you're swapping
Peak & Swap (Black Ks): Swap one of your cards with your opponents card after peaking at both cards. A powerful move!
Snap: If a card is played and you know that there is another card with the same shown value in any of the hands, you can snap that card by placing it in the discard pile. If you snap your opponents card, you're rewarded with an extra turn as well as the chance to give your opponent one of you cards. However, false snaps that don't match faces are punished with an extra card being drawn. Snapping your own card simply ends the current turn.
Ending the game: Any player can end the game by calling Cabo instead of ending a turn after the play phase. After Cabo is called, the opponent gets one turn to draw and discard but all special cards are disabled once Cabo is called.
